How is not French Airport's fault that they allowed a plane to use a runway that had debris on it?
Isn't that part of the safety aspect of running an airport?
No one in the ground control crew or runway crew saw the debris and removed it before allowing the Concorde to take off?
It's everybody's fault but their own, I guess.

Most airports don't look for
[Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register], there's too many aircraft taking off & landing to do it daily (I believe, could be wrong there) and it takes way too many people and too much time. The Airforce doesn't even do it that often because they have too much space to survey and clean up. I know the Navy does an FOD sweep after every round of aircraft carrier launches and landings, but then again, they have a finite amount of room to work with and there's a lot more riding on any damage to the aircraft or ship.
I digress though... Sorry.
Civil Aircraft don't normally shit or peel off parts, so it's comparatively rare that something like this would happen. The contention is that American Airlines is responsible because they didn't secure the rub strip properly, it popped off the aircraft and then went into the Concorde's tire and set a chain reaction off.
I mean, birds take down more aircraft than anything... but airports don't have to have an avian abatement program (as far as I know anyhow).
