Default can i connect my PS3 to my comp monitor?

with HDMI to DVI? Is this a DVI input? I snapped this pic of the back of my monitor just now. Do i simply buy an HDMI - DVI cable and hook the two up? How do I get audio?

That should work, DVI is the same as HDMI aside from the audio.

It'll work, but no audio. You may have to switch between the two, or disconnect the computer cable when you want to use the PS3.

You'll have to get a separate amplifier and speakers most likely. (assuming your comp. monitor cannot accept a line-level input)

Just set the PS3 to deliver video over the HDMI to DVI cable and audio over the RCA/line out cable and plug the audio cable into your computer line-in.

That's what I did for over a year before I got the HDTV.

Why go with VGA when there are hdmi to dvi + rca cables? Better quality with dvi...

EDIT: i realized the cable i posted didn't do audio... doh!

Steve, get an DVI -> HDMI cable for video. And then get an audio cable (rca's i'm guessing) for sound. total will be no more than $15-20.

The PS3 already comes with the audio cables he needs. He might have to get an RCA to mini-din adapter to plug into the line-in jack for his sound card.

it was really just an example. im sure with a little searching, he could find the exact cable. i can tell you right now though, my xbox on my monitor with just a vga cable still produces a very beautiful picture.
you can find the exact cable on ebay for just about nothing too.
for sound, i ran an optic cable from my xbox to my sound card.
