Seriously though... It broke my heart to see some pictures of the carnage... It's like the buildings were built with flour and water instead of concrete. The picture of the Presidential Palace gives a true idea of how strong the earth quake was...
Looking at the image of the UN building, I seriously doubt anyone made it out alive... Sorry dude.
Hopefully they weren't in the building when it happened.
I saw it, and I can only hope the one that was supposed to be there was elsewhere... One was supposed to be in his Apartment, and I'm hoping the same thing.
{personal opinion}The place is f**king chaos to begin with, and this is just hitting the blend button. {/personal opinion}
The country was a shit hole before the quake and now it's an even bigger one.
The conditions there are a direct result of the dictatorships and Socialist governments that have run that country for years.
It's sad to see the people, through no fault of their own, have to suffer the way they are.

The sister of a local RCMP officer missing in Haiti said she's praying her brother is found safe.
Barbara Chapman, who lives in Westbank, B.C., said she has no information on the whereabouts of her brother, Supt. Doug Coates, who was stationed at the UN headquarters in the capital city of Port-au-Prince at the time of Tuesday's earthquake and was reported missing along with Sgt. Mark Gallagher from Halifax. Colleagues found Gallagher's body in the rubble of his residence in Haiti's capital, RCMP Commissioner William J.S. Elliott said last night.
Elliott said the RCMP is holding out hope Coates will be found alive. The UN's acting commissioner of the Haiti mission, MINUSTAH, Coates is believed to be buried in the rubble of the UN headquarters, Elliott said.
"We were very much encouraged by the fact that someone else was recovered earlier (yesterday) who was relatively unscathed and we hold out hope that we will get good news about Doug," the commissioner said.
Chapman said she's glad to know Canadian resources are being committed to find her brother.
"I have a very strong Christian faith and so I'm just praying that if he is alive in the rubble, God is there with him, and if he is not alive, that he is with God.
"I love you and come home," she said when asked what she would say if she could talk to her brother right now, trying to hold back her emotions. "I'd love to give him a hug."
Chapman described the superintendent's family as Catholic and suggested they too are likely turning to their faith throughout this difficult time.
She said Coates' wife Lise, 53, and the couple's children -- Luc, 25, Mathieu, 21, and Julie, 17 -- are surrounded by friends and family at their home in Gatineau.
Chapman described her brother as kind, caring, and compassionate.
"He is an incredibly hardworking family man and has a very exuberant love of live. He is athletic and loves to ski and hike," she said.
She said her brother has a passion for helping others and has been all over the world in his duties with the RCMP and the UN.
"He's been in Africa policing there. He's been in Haiti before. He's been all over the world to Third World countries trying to bring the people some security," she said.
He has an incredible partner in Lise, a primary school teacher in Ottawa, who supported him being away from home because they felt it was important, Chapman said.
When he's home, he spends all his time with his family, she added.
"In these times of difficulty, you know, it's the families that pull together and support each other," Chapman said. "It's difficult right now because physically there's nothing we can do. We can't jump on a plane and be there to help him. We can't."
On a personal note: Until either of them stop talking and start doing, fuck them both. Both do little else but talk a great game and make up shit that fits their point of view and that's about it. Sorry for the fire in gut, but these ultra-privileged well-fed fuckwads should have to walk a mile in other people's shoes before they start their disaster-porn self-flagellation...
Just so no one misses how low Limbaugh's commentary is, just remember he's not trying to HELP people that need it, he wants to keep attacking Obama. To me at least, that shows a stunning lack of character.
A person worth paying attention to in my mind would have paid at least lip-service to the fact that the Red Cross ( [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] / [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] / [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] ) already has recovery feeders open for people that want to donate.
Now, I only have a short excerpt of the show, but PsyKoh, did he once say something that alluded to "if you want to help, you can donate to the American Red Cross" or another aid organization? If not, do you really want this cat being the spokesman for the Conservative movement?
BTW:
America, Canada, EU, and Brazil already have teams in Haiti as part of the UN's Stabilization Mission, they're already reassigning people to work as recovery point-men and until there are facilities first responder medics.
