A man with a history of domestic violence was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend with a branch cutter, seriously inuring her early Saturday on the South Side.
Albert Parker, 40, of the 7000 block of South Clyde Avenue, was charged with attempted murder, according to a police report.
Parker was taken into custody at 4:55 a.m. Saturday at the Clyde Avenue address after his girlfriend told police that Parker, who was still on the scene, allegedly stabbed her with a branch cutter, according to the report, which said the charge was approved at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Police said Parker is the woman's live-in boyfriend.
Parker’s 39-year-old girlfriend was found covered in blood after a forced entry was made when authorities couldn’t reach her during a well-being check, according to the report.
Arresting officers saw her stagger out of the apartment with lacerations about the face, neck and both of her forearms and she allegedly told arresting officers that a gardening tool, a branch cutter, was used to stab her and told them where the weapon was, the report said.
The woman was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious, but “stable” condition, according the report.
Parker is on parole for a prior conviction of domestic battery, according to the report, which said the weapon was recovered.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
