I pay out of pocket $602.40 per year for my premium. How much in taxes do you pay for your healthcare per year? If you are paying more and you have longer wait times then your system sucks and you should be pissed. If you pay less then you should have longer wait times and tell your government to tax you more to get better care.
No, you pay $3k. If you did not have those benefits, then your employer would be paying another $2.6k. That said, I only made $35k last year (started working in June), am still in school, and have quite a bit of carry over from previous years, so I didn't have to pay any tax last year. I have to recalculate my taxes for this year, so I have no idea how much I'd have to pay.

Kind of like the way public schools are. You get taxed for public schools but since they suck so bad you pay extra, above and beyond your tax dollars, to send your kid to a private school.
Well, U.S. schools. Canadian public schools are actually good and the majority of people go to them.

No I pay 602.40. I know this because I am the accountant for the company. I write the check to the insurance company and I set up the deductions that pull the money out of my paycheck. If my employer didn't offer coverage I can get my self insured for about $1800 per year with higher co pays.

OK, by that merit then, I pay $0 for my health coverage. My employer also automatically deducts my earnings for my health care coverage from my income.

I do not know about Canadian schools but most US public schools are shit. I am helping to pay for my niece to go to private school next year and will help pay for my nephew to go to a private school as well. Retards indoctrinated in communism and socialism are what US schools have been producing the last 30 years. If you look at the stats there is a reason that home schooling and private schools are becoming more popular and why in places like NY less than half the kids graduate high school.

Then you do pay. If it is automatically deducted from your gross you still pay. Is that amount more then $604.40?

OK, so the $2.6k your employer pays comes out of his ass? It is not costing him $2.6k more, per year, to keep you on? Whether it goes to an insurance company or the gov't, if the cost was $2.6k, then the employer is still paying an extra $2.6k.
Then, in that case, the 2007 census puts the illegal immigrant population (that participated in the census) at 11.3 million, not 30. So, take out the 11.3 million illegal immigrants that participated in the survey and you are left with 11% uninsured (using 2007 numbers).
still a far cry from 45 million, isn't it?

Most Canadian public schools are good. Less then 5% of the population goes to private secondary schools. And, yes, more Canadians complete post-secondary education then Americans.

Right. It is charged back to our customers when we bid their jobs just like the utilities, vehicle payments and gas. I pay for our customers health insurance when I (as a private citizen) do business with them. Again that is capitalism.

Yes, Canadians also charge our customers more to make up for the taxes we have to pay. We don't pull money out of our ass to pay our taxes.
Read up and you'll find that the number is actually about 5 million as I stated before.
And 45% of those will only be without insurance for 4 months or less while they transition from one job to another.

Canadian school are pretty good but... as with any public systems there is room for improvement.
My son (whose IQ is easily in the 130 to 140 range) learns as fast as the slowest kid in the class. Fortunately his current teacher gives him harder work to keep him intellectually stimulated. They really frown on double grading kids these days because of the social aspects of it.
Back on topic... I spoke with a guy in Maine three years ago that was paying $500 a month for health insurance for his family of four. (It included vision and dental.)

After I was laid off mine would have been $450 a month just for me without the government subsidy, and that was for a BS HMO program. When I was working at that job it was about $115 a month.
