Back when I was married we looked into getting a full solar setup for our house.
It was going to be about 20K for a system that would run our 2300sq ft house completely off the grid during the day including running the air conditioning.
We would have had to invest another 5K for a separate system to run the pool filter.
I'm sure prices have come way down in the last 8 years so it should be cheaper these days to get your house off the grid.
