Read the transcript of what Obama actually said. The tone is what everyone has said all along. Palestinian state and Isreal state both have rights to exist with Israel stop infringing on Palestinian land with illegal occupation.
It's better than the previous admin where Israel is always right and Palestinian is always wrong.
Come on, Griff... You know that the brightness of Obama's glory has blinded most people. It will take a LOT more to turn them around than Obama throwing Israel under the Bus or singing the praises to Islam in Egypt.

Well when two admins fall deeply in love.....they can't physically have children so they adopt one and that's how a moderator is made.

If we're going to invite Hamas to the table why not start negotiating with Al-Qaeda?

I don't bother to pick apart his speeches. This is exactly the same shit he did on the campaign trail - he never speaks in absolutes and everything he says can be interpreted 57 different ways so that he can do whatever he wants without "lying". He's trying his best to appease everyone all at once, making up history along the way to do so. I follow his actions, not his words because he's made it clear they mean nothing. He is trying to be a world leader, not an American leader, and in the process he has made himself nothing more than a pathetic mediator - a politically correct middle man for cultures and religions to be able to hold hands with each other. No, hes speeches mean nothing and it's a waste of time to pick them apart in search of his actual intent. He has no intent, except to wing it one day at a time, making vague generalizations about everything so he can make decisions on the fly without any backlash.
It's almost impressive to watch. Take for example his claim that "all combat troops will be out of Iraq by XXXX". Well, he's leaving behind 50,000 "non-combat" troops (which also happen to be just as heavily armed and capable to fight as the "combat" troops) to keep an eye over things, and no one is really questioning him because technically hes not breaking a campaign promise!
President Obama is asking Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel to stop expanding settlements in the West Bank. Obama asked why Israel can’t build more housing in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, and Netanyahu said, “Too Jewish.”
Sorry but the Taliban is not al Quaeda, not by a long shot. Try again before you start talking about short memories. Perhaps you meant to compare Hamas and the Taliban and not Hamas and al Qaeda. Maybe that's just my short memory gone awry.
Taliban and al Qaeda are not the same... but the Taliban facilitated al Qaeda and they both had the same goals. At this point, they're mostly synonymous because Afghanistan has a more or less stable government, and the two of them are trying to gain support in Pakistan as a unit. The comparison isn't totally off-base.
Hamas is a little odd, it's like the IRA more than anything: They have a military arm that's radicalized, and a political arm (although Sinn Fein is at arm's length with no military decisions being made by them) that is suddenly in power.
Actually besides killing American's in Afghanistan, the Taliban and al Quaeda have little in common. The Taliban want nothing more than to enforce Shariah law in Afghanistan, and now into Pakistan. Al Quaeda, on the other hand, is all about exporting terrorism all over the world. At no point in its history did al Quaeda ever have any "political" control over any country or region. Hamas and the Taliban are both regional terror groups that have or are currently relevant in the political landscape of their relative regions...none of this is true for al Quaeda. Al Quaeda and the Taliban are not natural allies, and if America went away tomorrow they would have no reason to maintain a relationship at all.
Actually, they would:
- Taliban wants sharia law and middle-eastern culture overall, implemented world wide, not just in Afghanistan, and to bring the world back to 600a.d.
- al Qaeda wants their interpretation of sharia law and middle-eastern culture implemented world wide, and to destroy the US and all western ideals.
al Qaeda is based out of hard-line muslim protectionism, but after it went from mujahideen to al Qaeda it became radicalized, and started targeting westerners because the culture was different and decadent/impure.. whatever.
During the time in Afghanistan, there was a blending of the Taliban and al Qaeda. Quite literally when there were al Qaeda members in Taliban government posts, and Taliban officials preaching their ideals to al Qaeda trainees in Afghanistan camps. Both stemmed out the same teachings of Ibn Timiah, and if you need a substantial link, look no further than [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register].
If America went away tomorrow, the rest of the west would still have to deal with them because there are still legitimate targets to them, namely, UK, France, Germany, Pakistan... and basically any non-Sunnis. Taliban has had the ability to move out of Pakistan and into Afghanistan, and even has sympathizers in Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, UAE/Saudi Arabia/Yemen... Regional to the Mid-East, but then again, they're more of a political group.
They're 2 branches of the same tree: they want their ideas, religion, culture and laws to be put upon other people. Treating them as the same entity isn't at all a stretch, they have common goals, common enemies, common money lines, and common backgrounds. FCOL, Bin Laden had said that Taliban controlled Afghanistan the only true muslim state... that's pretty much as close to love as you get with those two.
