WASHINGTON - The Obama administration is expanding a program initiated by President George W. Bush aimed at checking the immigration status of virtually every person booked into local jails. In four years, the measure could result in a tenfold increase in illegal immigrants who have been convicted of crimes and identified for deportation, current and former U.S. officials said.
What is the point? If you do not shut down the border and keep them from recrossing it helps nothing and noone. Now if you do this then put flame throwers and machine guns every 50 yards along the border then this would work.
They are still coming just not as fast. What everyone says is "They have stopped coming now that the economy is down so why secure the border?" Well the reason you secure the border is taht the economy might pick back up and they will be coming up again by the millions.
Immigration status should be SOP for every person arrested or for every person trying to enroll their kid in school or apply for public benefits.
