Apple just sent a big F***U to all its users

"I'm pretty skeptical that Flash could be implemented in a way that doesn't violate the Terms of Service of the developer's agreement," said Bart Decrem, CEO of Tapulous, developer of the popular Tap Tap Revenge iPhone game.
Flash is Adobe's highly popular platform for displaying interactive graphics, animations and multimedia within a browser. According to Adobe, 98 percent of desktop computers currently support Flash, which has led to its widespread use by web developers. Adobe's recent announcement that it is working on a version of Flash for Windows Mobile has prompted speculation that an iPhone version might be coming soon. But the speculators may be waiting in vain, based on Apple's TOS and the company's history of tightly controlling applications for its smartphone platform.
Allowing Flash — which is a development platform of its own — would just be too dangerous for Apple, a company that enjoys exerting total dominance over its hardware and the software that runs on it. Flash has evolved from being a mere animation player into a multimedia platform capable of running applications of its own. That means Flash would open a new door for application developers to get their software onto the iPhone: Just code them in Flash and put them on a web page. In so doing, Flash would divert business from the App Store, as well as enable publishers to distribute music, videos and movies that could compete with the iTunes Store.

a $300 paper-weight when you want to go to some of the most entertaining websites currently. Just imagine being able to go to hulu during a long trip and watch a whole movie... Well, not on that Ipod you won't.

it's still a useful phone, Internet, and email device. As well as a media player, etc. That sucks, but I can live with it.

It is a god damn phone. You dont need all of that shit on there in the first place. I have had my phone for over 5 years and it came for free when i signed up for my plan. The fucking shit that people waste their money on amazes me. No wonder everyone always wants a god damn bail out. People do not save their god damn money any more.

^agreed.
All these idiots paying $500+ for an iPhone? WHY? WTF does it do so special? My blackberry does all the same, and it cost me less than $200. And some people get these smart phones, when all they need are the 10 numbers along with the red and green buttons that come on the phone to make a damn call.

I think it's no secret that Apple has the worst developers of any big companies on the market. They don't have the brains or the will to integrate and maintain anything successfully.

Seriously. My blackberry does almost anything I could want, and it was like $200 (8320)

My next phone will be either a BlackBerry Pearl or a BlackBerry Curve (depending on the incentives I get to upgrade).... I tried the Ipod and was impressed with it, but not enough to pay a premium over the BB when the BB will do everything I want and the only major drawback being it's not as cool-looking.

I messed with the pearl when I had to purchase a compatible phone for my Boss' BMW... I was sold on it about 10 minutes into playing with it... I might even go storm too once I get to play with it and see how I like it.

I wouldn't get a storm until 2nd gen, their touchscreen probably won't be great on the first gen one since they've never done one until now.
I had a pearl and loved it, now I have a curve and it's a ridiculous love haha. The full keypad is so nice to be able to send huge messages quickly, and the little things like hitting "r" to reply to a message or "f" to forward a message instead of going into the menu system make it super convenient.
