WTF are Reputation Points?

I just found it and I gave Sassan a point and it asked me for a comment which I entered. I have a point or two but would like to check the comments. How do I check that or just find out who gave me points?

Rep points are something that comes preloaded with the vB software. Some sites use it, others don't. If you guys want it added, I can set it up. Otherwise, its nothing special. Woohoo, I have a rep point and you don't.

Do they have something to do with post count, Sass? I used to have three times as many posts and like 34 rep points, now I have less than 600 posts and only 19 points...?

I honestly could care less about the points as I didn't pay that much attention to them until I noticed the change, but I know I won't be going out of my way to give/get them so you can get rid of them if it's going to become a problem or afect the site or take up bandwidth or whatever.

i don't even understand them, the rep points are different than the rep power? and the rep power goes up and down?
