I'll be up early tomorrow, watch the opening ceremonies in HD. After that, who knows?

I'll probably watch some of it, but I don't have cable so I'll have to settle for what's on the networks.
I like to watch it because it doesn't happen every year, and the athletes have just a few chances at gold before their career ends. That gives the games more of a sense of urgency and importance for me.
I don't have any interests at all. All this talk about Beijing and the human rights really overshadows the games. Not that I really have a strong opinion on those issues, but that's all the media talks about and not about the actual games. I was watching ESPN and they were asking all the NBA players their thoughts on the "issues" and they kept saying that they are here to play ball and what not. Lebron said it best, let the politicians deal with the politics and let the players deal with the games. Too bad the media doesn't see it that way.

They never show the good stuff like martial arts or fencing or shooting.

Flipping through the channels yesterday and saw some female fencing. Good shit.
:th_thumbsdownsmiley Not only is fencing boring but WOMEN'S fencing?!?! :th_gives:
I noticed this was on this morning, too, and it was USA vs USA. Then later I saw that we won all 3 medals; is no other country dumb enough to have a women's fencing team...?
I don't think anyone could be interested considering the way it's being broadcasted, where we get to watch synchronized swimming and some other gayness out of what... 30 some sports?
