Dude NSFW warning would have been appreciated.

And wtf does that have to do with island vacations?

Relax and a little exploring. That is why a cruise is in consideration. I would like to go to an island where I can get a shit ton of Cuban cigars. I actually thought about a cruise to Cuba now that they are open but Trump may end that.

I am a picky eater. I have a slight allergy to shell fish and prefer to eat steak and chicken. But when in Rome I will eat like a Roman and hope to god to not shit my pants.

We are looking for a trip of about a week. I can get more time off but she is limited and I think she would be mad if I sent her home and stayed an extra few days.
With $5k, you can do just about anything.

I personally have not found a cruise to be relaxing. There is so much to do in terms of eating, shows, casinos, bars/lounges, and off shore excursions. You really want to try to do them all because they are included in package at no extra charge. You run around all day long and are just beat at the end of the day. Also, the pool area will be VERY crowded during your days at sea. You will literally be on top of the next person. Kids will be on the cruise for sure and most pussy parents do not keep them in check because they are too busy doing other shit. You can look into Carnival cruises for a more 'freestyle' type of experience but the ship and amenities do not compare to Royal Caribbean.

I've bought cigars in every island I've been to. Cubans are very easy to get, even in Mexico. I would still bring some of your favorites down as there are lot of knock offs or some of the Cubans were not stored properly and are dry and flaky. Cab drivers and security guards have all the hook-up and they will go above and beyond to accommodate your for an extra $20.

In terms of food, a cruise does have the advantage of customizing food. You can get anything custom made for you. Most restaurants in the Caribbean will cater to your needs too. So I wouldn't put too much emphasis on it.

Also, everyone speaks English. Do you speak spanish at all (I know you have a landscaping business and most owners I know speak Spanish)? People who speak Spanish get better treatment in the Spanish speaking places especially DR.

I honestly would avoid D.R. & Jamaica (sorry D ) if you want to kind of venture out, especially on your own & get some adventuring. Its def possible but, those are the kinds of places where you kinda play the resort most of time as opposed to adventuring. I liked both places but, far from the top slots on my list.

Aruba is fun, people super friendly, LOTS of dining & good food options .. I had alot of fun there, its really safe too. Bahamas is fuckin awesome, I'm actually headed to Great Exuma end of May for my 40th

But I have only traveled to the "Out Islands" (not Nassau) where things are really underdeveloped & quiet .. food options may be limited in the Out Islands although I did not have any problems. Nassau is the main tourist destination & has just about everything to fit anyone's needs. I Just prefer quiet & seclusion really.

I've been thru alot of the Caribbean myself, and have always enjoyed every place I've been. You might want to take a look on TripAdvisor@the caribbean destinations & see if anything jumps out at you:
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-...Vacations.html
I agree that in Jamaica you cannot venture out. Outside of the resort areas, it truly is a shithole with people trying to hustle you all the time. This will be our 4th time out there so we know what to expect and what to avoid.

I LOVED DR! It was one of our favorite trips. We stayed in Punta Cana in January and because we were Americans who tipped, and not smelly ass, cigarette smoking, non-tipping Europeans, we were treated like royalty. Dropping even a $5 at the pool bar got my drinks made ON THE WAY to the bar. And there are many adult only resorts out there. I would recommend 100%.

Aruba, totally agree. Beautify island and you can venture off.

My favorite 2 islands that I have visited are Curacao and Bermuda. Gorgeous, friendly locals, not poor or run down. Lot of history on both islands. Can easily venture out on your own or with a group. St. Marteen is also gorgeous. I would recommend as my 3rd relaxing, trip that you can venture out to. If you look at this, stay on the Dutch side because the other side is French and, you know, fuck the French.

I'm going on a cruise at the end of next month. Norwegian is pretty good but for couples maybe celebrity or princess or Royal Caribbean would be better for you. I've been to Jamaica, cancun, Bermuda, Bahamas, Dominican Republic. Depends on what you would like to do. Do you want tropical weather or site seeing? You can get Cubans anywhere and now your allowed to bring them into the states

Leaning toward an all inclusive resort. I am looking at making a decision at the end of February when a contract gets renewed. A cruise sounds nice but I am not sure that I want to get dressed for dinner.

There's always nude cruises

You do not necessarily have to get "dressed up" for dinner, most if not all cruise lines offer "casual dining" options, with some restrictions of course. You'd just have to check into the individual cruise line's options.
There are a TON of all-inclusive resorts/options spanning almost everywhere so, with a little bit of research you should be able to find an island & resort that appeals to you.

Turks was nice and beautiful clear water yada yada but boy was it boring. Just an island with sand and water. If you're looking for peace and quiet is perfect, if you're looking to socialize and party it's probably not the best options

word T&C was my first trip to a decent beach and i was blown away. also my wife and I just wanted to chill out and do nothing but snorkel and relax. in aruba, we did so much that when it was time to leave we didn't want to. T&C was a 3-4 day vacation and that was plenty.
