Nissan Announces Management Changes [Mar. 13, 08]
TOKYO (March 13, 2008) – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today announced changes to its senior global management team in Japan. All changes are effective April 1, 2008.
“These changes reflect a continued focus on preparing Nissan for the next period of growth under our forthcoming new mid-term business plan,” said Nissan President and CEO Carlos Ghosn. “I also want to recognize and thank Itaru Koeda for his substantial contributions and enduring leadership at Nissan, and am pleased that he has agreed to continue to contribute to Nissan in a new role as Executive Advisor and Honorary Chairman.”
Executive Committee Members
· Itaru Koeda, executive vice president and co-chairman is retiring as a member of Nissan’s executive committee. From June 25th he will retire as a representative director and co-chairman of the Board of Directors and take up the new role of Executive Advisor and Honorary Chairman.
· Toshiyuki Shiga, Chief Operating Officer and head of the management committee Japan adds domestic network management, external and government affairs, intellectual asset management, industrial machinery, Marine, corporate governance and global internal audit to his responsibilities. Shiga also will serve as Chairman of the management committee for dealers and the management committee for affiliate companies.
· Alain Dassas, senior vice president and Chief Financial Officer adds responsibility for the newly created global sales finance business unit, merger and acquisition department and tax and customs department.
Senior Vice Presidents
· Philippe Klein, senior vice president, CEO/COO office, adds the supply chain breakthrough function to his responsibilities.
· Atsushi Shizuta, corporate vice president R&D engineering management and electronics and power electronics division is appointed senior vice president, Nissan passenger vehicle product development division #2, light commercial vehicle product development division and vehicle development planning department.
· Yasuhiro Yamauchi, corporate vice president, project purchasing department #1 and #2, material purchasing group of Renault Nissan purchasing organization and purchasing engineering support department is appointed senior vice president, purchasing, service support purchasing department and purchasing strategy department, in addition to his current responsibilities. Yamauchi also takes responsibility for the common purchasing department of the Renault Nissan Purchasing Organization.
Corporate Vice Presidents
Six managers will be newly appointed as corporate vice presidents and become corporate officers.
· Shinya Hannya, Managing Director and CEO, Nissan Australia, is appointed corporate vice president, Global Overseas Markets (GOM) planning department and marketing and sales for Asia and Oceania.
· Greg Kelly, vice president human resources, Nissan North America is appointed corporate vice president, legal department, Alliance Coordination Office and responsible for the coordination of cross-functional teams.
· Akihiro Otomo, corporate vice president, Infiniti product development division adds responsibility for the global Infiniti business unit.
· Hideyuki Sakamoto, chief vehicle engineer, is appointed corporate vice president for Nissan passenger vehicle product development division #1.
· Shunichi Toyomasu, general manager for information systems and information technology systems is appointed corporate vice president, electronics and power electronics engineering division and the technology development group.
· Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi, president, Nissan Technical Center North America is appointed corporate vice president R&D engineering management division and vehicle test technology development group.
· Makoto Yoshimoto, general manager, purchasing strategy department is appointed corporate vice president, project purchasing department #1 and #2, purchasing engineering support department and purchasing administration department.
Officers retiring or leaving Nissan
Five corporate officers (senior vice presidents and corporate vice presidents) will retire or leave the company.
· Kimiyasu Nakamura, senior vice president, will be proposed as President of Dongfeng Motor
· Shigeo Shingyoji, senior vice president, will be proposed as executive vice president of Calsonic Kansei
· Yasuaki Hashimoto, corporate vice president, will be proposed as President of Nissan (China) Investment
· Keiichi Murata, corporate vice president, will be proposed as President and CEO of Nissan Techno
· Mark McNabb, corporate vice president, will resign
