Transmission fluid replacement advice
Hello guys..
I am new here and looking forward to take advantage of the expertise on this board. I have 2005 Altima 3.5 SE with 100k miles and I am looking to replace the transmission fluid. I searched around and asked the mechanics and transmission, but still confused, just wondering whether should I simply drain and refill the fluid or have a complete transmission fluid flush. BTW I have had the transmission fluid flush at 55K.

Your inputs will be helpful.

A full flush costs more but will more thoroughly clean out the old, used fluid that is hiding in the cracks of the transmission. I'm guessing you have an auto? Usually they say you should change your automatic transmission filter as well when you replace or flush the fluid. Manual transmissions don't have a filter and don't require a flush either.

Myself, I did a drain an d fill X2. Use only Nissan trans fluid IMO. My 03 Altima SE 3.5 auto uses D type fluid. Only fill what you drain unless your trans is leaking. I drove for about 500km, then drained and refill again. Both times I got out 9 litres of fluid. I did not change the transmission screen( there's no filter). I've read in other forums that flush and fills may cause issues with transmissions. hope this helps.

I agree with peelman. Just do the drain and refill.
