Default Opinions on wiring a DVC sub

Here's the deal. I have a Cerwin Vega HED 10.4 dual voice coil sub, Right now it's wired in series, which is at 8ohms, since my amp cannot maintain at 2ohms while bridged.

Is it possible to wire each coil to different channels on a 2 channel amp? The current amp is capable of putting out enough power and would be stable at 4 ohms. If not, I have tracked down a mono amp stable to 2ohms but I'd rather not spend the coin.

Yes you can do that, your gains should be matched using a multi meter to ensure proper output to each coil.

If you are just wiring the existing amp so that each channel provides power to an individual 4ohm coil, the amp is still going to provide the same amount of power to the subwoofer. Isn't it?

using my RF P500.2 (class AB) specs as an example:
250wRMS x 2 channel @ 2 ohms
500wRMS x 1 channel @ 4 ohms
125wRMS x 2 channel @ 4 ohms
250wRMS x 1 channel @ 8 ohms

I think I suggested a member on NC to wire the coils independent like this and it was Nismos14 who said that it would make the same power either way. If I misread the question or overlooked something: sorry and disregard.

You are correct sir. It is also more beneficial to have a single circuit than two individual channels.

amp is stable at 4 ohms but cannot maintain 2 ohms.

Leave it the way it is, and later move on to a dual 2 ohm subwoofer.
