I recently ran my 96 Altima GXE (standard tranny) for 371 miles straight, 345 of them pure highway. The total fuel fill-up came out to 10 gallons, so 37 mpg. Not bad at all for a 12-yr old 4-banger.

Yeah it's great mileage, I barely break 26mpg pure city driving. :p

i got more than 600 gallons on my tank i know this because i went modesto and back, i set my trip oddo and i realized i got more than 600 before i had to put in any gas miles
every time i take my altima on a long road trip, its the same results. i get 350 at the beginning of the trip and about 600 miles or so into it, it jumps to 450 a tank and stays that way till the end of the trip. love the gas mileage my first gen gets. now, with it being turbo'd, im not sure what it will get, but it would get lucky to even ever see a road trip again.

you dont have to floor it everytime you're driving....and i wasnt driving slow like an old man either i say most of the trip i was between 70 and 75 a few times at 80 and the highest i went was 85 when i was on the 205 Freeway
all you have to do is take off slowly...instead of reaching hwy speed at the beginning of the ramp get there slightly after the on ramp, put in Neutral going down hills.
I don't know if I am expecting too much from my 91 Sentra, but if I am doing mostly city driving I get about 350km per tank. If there's quite a bit of highway driving I get 450 to 500km per tank.

Remember this? Today was my FIRST fill-up since the date. 293 miles run (about 100 highway, the rest local), for 10.1 gallons. 29mpg on mostly stop-n-go. I'm impressed.
I have changed my driving habits a lot and go a long ways to get great Fuel economy. Well I got 29.8 MPG last tank, and this is in almost all city driving. I think the car is rated as something like 23-24 MPG city. WOOT WOOT!
