Decoding engine identification:

First, decoding the format, using the KA found in most 90's nissans:

KA24DE
First two letters indicate the motor series. This one is a KA series motor.

KA24DE
The number indicates the displacement of the motor. Divide by 10 to get the Liters. This one is a 2.4 liter motor.

KA24DE
The letters after the displacement indicate features of the motor, as listed below. This one has DOHC and EFI.
