Default Radio Removal (2nd Gen. 98-01)

I posted this in a thread on Altimas.net. Thought it could be a helpful and useful tool though for anyone who had any questions on this forum.

Removal of radio:

1st: There is a woodgrain trim around the shifter. Put your hand underneath the back of it,

And pull it up, and over the shifter.

2nd: There are 4 screws holding the woodgrain dash trim bezel in.

2 screws at the bottom:

And 2 screws underneath the climate control.

Remove all 4 screws.

3rd: You have to take the ashtray out to pop the bezel off with no complication. Pull it out, press it down, and pull it out.

To give yourself room to get the woodgrain bezel off, turn your car on, and pull the shifter into 1. (On Auto obviously)

4th: Now you can remove the woodgrain bezel. Put your hands on each side, and it should pull out without much effort.

5th: When removing the bezel, the 12V cigarette lighter harness is connected to the back of the woodgrain bezel. Press down on the top of the harness, and pull it off, and it should remove without much effort.

Now you can get to the radio.

Remove the screws holding the radio in, and from there you can replace your radio.

Don't hate on the dusty interior on the Alt. It's winter, it needs cleaning lol.

What if I don't have the special wood grain. Mines just black.

BTW the trim around the 5 speed shifter is the same step for auto.

Nice simple write-up.
