4th Gen Altima - Avic D3 Install

Mods: Please don't move this. Some of the members wanted to see this setup for the 4th gen. That's why I'm putting it here. Thanks!

So... I've NEVER EVER started a thread before. EVER. I just checked on nissanclub and did a search! never started one!

Nismos14 did the install for me... knew what he was doing... did a GREAT job... moved/changed his schedule around just so he could fit in my install... great guy to work with! if you're in or around NJ... def hit him up!

Amp installed on the passenger side seats in the back. Didn't fit under the passenger seat in the front.

D3 in the dash!! A/C Controls not in all the way yet... Panel sitting on the ground (right side) is where the Bluetooth module and the power box for the reverse camera went

Avic D3 on with the iPod interface up. The circle to the left of the Avic D3 is the microphone for the bluetooth module. Got the idea from Knight4039 on Nissanclub

After a wash on Thursday! It was FILTHY for the install! and it was randomly snowing when I was getting it installed! haha

That looks ****ing great. All that extra in the engine bay, the doors, and the trunk are all aftermarket speakers right? if only dealing with the heatunit then i wont have to pry off that much stuff?

Either way. Looks amazing and bet it sounds even better.

Correct... the wiring through the engine bay was the 4 gauge wiring for the amp

Speedometer was removed to get to the VSS wire, for the nav... (tells the nav your speed... etc.)
The Avic D3 has "Vehicle dynamics display allows you to monitor your vehicle's performance with on-screen gauges, including acceleration, direction, speed and more"

I'll try and take some more pictures of the nav and the VDD and what not when I have some time.... I've just been saying I'll put up pictures and have been so busy!

Incase you need it... I copied it from gixer311's (Nissanclub) photobucket... incase he takes it down.

For you guys doing the install yourself... or if your installer needs help... these are some useful threads... with some good info...

Im confused, the guy in the other place said we splice into purple/white but his picture is pointing at blue/white... What color is the right wire that we're supposed to splice into?

Looks great. Its a bitch taking off all that stuff for the rear panel. When I did it I broke a clip and couldn't get it to align. How did you take off speedometer and what color is that wire?

Why did you guys take that off? And also what kind of sound deadening materials did you use and does anyone know where I can get some on the cheap side?

I'm 99.9% positive its the pin in that diagram... just make sure you have the wiring harness in the right orientation... (you can tell which side is the top from the diagram.. I think it was blue and black... I'm pretty sure... after reading [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] looks like it was pin 30 and NOT 31... I'll ask Nismos14 if he remembers... I'm pretty sure it was blue or violet... and black...

I said maybe we could put the bluetooth mike up there... where you see the vertical holes to the left/right of the interior light switch... but we couldn't get the clip to stay in there... it was too big... and I didn't really care anymore... and we weren't in the mood to waste time making a custom mount for it... so we put it right in the dash kit...

I was going to include that picture in the thread but I figured it would just confuse people since we didn't actually do anything with it!

EDIT: Oops... sorry... forgot about the deadening question... he had some extra fatmat deadening... so he just used that... and some closed cell foam for the cup holders in the front doors too!

I must say, for the D3 especially I like to wire it up ahead of time, mainly because of the MESS of wires you see in the dash. I typically do a MUCH cleaner job with loom, but under time constraints, and really wanting to get the entire job done in one day, I did it the sloppy way :(.

I find the 4th gen doors are pretty solid, they don't rattle much, a bit of closed cell foam on the cup holder area to create some loading against the door itself helps a good amount, this is the main reason the deadening is somewhat sparce, not to mention the doors are already sealed, gotta love altima's for that.

The wiring in the trunk is also a MESS, I feel bad and I think I mentioned to RockenZ that I don't typically wire things up like this. I really wanted to get it done though, and after 13 hours of work in the cold/snow and not hearing him complin, I did the best I could with the wiring. For not its staying like that.

I see RCA cables going into the Amp so I'm gonna make the call that the input is Line level coming from the head unit.

It also looks like there's another set of speakers hooked up as well. Maybe the Rear's? I didn't see any mention of upgrading any of the stock speakers, only removal of the door speakers to add sound deadening. Hmmm... did RockenZ add speakers to the rear door?
