Default Rear Turbo

I heard that having a rear turbo put on doesn't void your warranty, any truth to this?

Also, I have the CVT trans on my new altima so I'm wondering how it might affect it?

rear turbo's are incredibly ineffecient.. do your self a favor and wait for SFR to relase their CVT kit to the public...it should be out late next month i belive

and any turbo will void your warranty

From what I understand they are inefficient with 4 cylinder vehicles but with 6 and higher they're ok?

And what if the dealer installed the turbo?

I believe its called the SRS turbo system. basically the turbo mounts on your exhaust pipes back by the mufflers. On our car, it would mount at the Y-pipe before the mufflers. then a second pipe is ran from the compressor side of the turbo back to the intake. The problem would be keeping the air chilled enough and keeping the turbo oiled with such a long oil feed & return line. And you dont necessary use an IC due to the length of the pipe, it does cool it off more than a regular turbo setup, but its still not optimal.

Those are called STS, or Squires Turbo Systems. It's another way to use a turbo. They work, and all systems have pluses and minuses. Just go to their website, look at some of the power numbers they are getting. Some are pretty impressive.

It would be mechanically possible to have two turbos like that. You might run into too much boost for a street-driven gasoline car. That's assuming you don't want to run race gas in it all the time. You could run more boost with a diesel engine. Guess it boils down to how much money you want to spend!

honestly, unless they fix the whole cvt setup in our cars, you wont want to run boost. The tranny just cant handle it for a duration

just seems like an interesting experiment to have both a front and rear turbo. =)

you would most likely use something like a T-60 in the rear, and a T28 or T3/T4 hybrid upfront if you wanted to TT the car. But controlling the boost spikes would be an issue.
