Default FYI: Second Generation Nissan Altima

Second Generation Nissan Altima

The second generation Altima got a lot of it's driveline from the first generation Altima. Except in 2000, the engine was uped 5 hp and 2 lb-ft. Also in 2000, the exterior styling was changed, including the grill, headlights, trunk, and available 16 inch wheels. Overall, the second generation Altima is bigger, and roomier, but retains the same wheelbase as the first generation Altima.

2.4 liter straight 4, transversly mounted
5 speed manual or available 4 speed automatic
150 hp @ 5,600 RPM (1999 - 2000)
154 lb-ft @ 4,400 RPM (1999 - 2000)
155 hp @ 5,600 RPM (2001 - 2002)
156 lb-ft @ 4,400 RPM (2001 - 2002)
Bore x Stroke 3.50" x 3.78" (1999 - 2000)
Bore x Stroke 3.50" x 3.80" (2001 - 2002)
Wheelbase 103.1 inches

23 mpg city, 31 mpg highway
runs 87 octane gasoline

curb weight was ~2,859 lbs to ~3,057 lbs, depending on options and trim level

Same here, I think I get around 26 on the highway. I cannot complain though because the BMW gets much less.

You should be getting higher than 26, even if I run at 80mph I get at least 30mpg on the highway.

Well, I just did a tune up on everything because it was well overdue for one. I'll see if that helps any. It runs a little smoother now.

my wifes 01 that she wrecked used to get good gas mileage as well. i actually liked that car. for a smashed in the ass looking accord, her 2nd gen wasnt that bad.
